Can you imagine a world without backpacks? Neither can we. Yet it wasn’t long ago that they were strictly outdoor gear. One fall in the late sixties, the JanSport team heard that students were using the brand’s small cross country daypacks to cross campus instead. It made sense with comfortable padded straps, and easy access front panel opening and catch resistant nylon zippers the bags were just as great for carrying books as they were for carrying gear. Seeing the potential the team made a few notebook worthy design adjustments including the addition of a durable vinyl base to improve weight capacity. Soon after, JanSport began selling the first ever campus backpacks into college bookstores around the country.Versatile and spacious, the JanSport Superbreak wheeled backpack makes a terrific travel bag whether you’re flying across country or visiting a friend’s house across town. The 2,000-cubic-inch backpack offers one large compartment for storing clothes, books, and other items, along with a front utility pocket that provides quick access to your essentials. More significantly, the Superbreak is a breeze to transport, with a retractable, three-stage molded rubber handle and corner-mounted inline skate wheels that glide smoothly across airport concourses. And once you’ve arrived at your destination, simply pull out the tuck-away shoulder straps and convert the Superbreak into an easy-to-tote backpack. Other details include corner guards and skid rails for added protection and a padded grab handle. Made of 600-denier polyester, the Superbreak measures 13 by 19 by 8.8 inches (W x H x D) and weighs 5 pounds 12 ounces.

Poorly designed backpack.

Even though the backpack is big and can handle a big load, it suffers from a design flaw. Once the backpack is loaded, it tends to lean forward. This makes the kids to slightly drag the front of the backpack on the ground causing the fabric to rip. We bought one and a month later the backpack has a 2-3 inch tear at the bottom front and 1-2 inch tear at the front pocket. It cost too much money for something that will definitely not last a year.

I had to get a bag w/ enough support and room for many books…(nursing program). It’s held up pretty well so far w/ no problems and I have to drag this thing thru street n rocks, conrete, & brick. Its only been a month but its held up great and I get alot of compliments in it being so different and cool lookin.

Bought the JanSport Wheeled Super Break (Sept. 07) for my daughter’s 2007-2008 school year. It’s December 7, 2007 and the handle for the wheelie part just broke, this is ridiculous!

This is a great, roomy bag. But after only a few months of my 9 year old using it at school, the outside corners haved ripped out. He does not even change classes with it! Only uses it during carpool, going and coming to school!

Now we have to send it in for warranty, although it is probably not under warranty due to “normal wear and tear”, or we have to buy another bag. We had previously tried buying a cheap rolling backpack and that one ripped. So, I thought buying an expensive bag with a warranty would be better. Oh, well…

I am thrilled with this item, so far it has exceeded my expectations. It’s made of very sturdy material and it’s bigger than I thought it would be. The only draw back is that it’s heavier than cheaper brands, but I guess that will translate in a sturdier more durable item.
